Four Eye Variant Dzi Bead, 57.7×13.5mm, Warm Brown Agate (N-083126-4EV)
🌟 Authentic Tibetan Dzi Bead | Unretouched Photos | New Production
The four eyes on this bead are not circles — they are leaves.
Where the standard four-eye dzi uses round concentric rings, this piece carries almond-shaped eyes: elongated ovals with pointed ends, sitting in pairs on each of the two eye faces. Two on one side, two on the other, each pair framed by cream lines with a U-shaped arch bridging below them. The side faces between the eye pairs are a different composition entirely — a clean double-bar structure running the full length with bracket-shaped connectors, geometric and spare against the warm brown ground. The bead rotates through four genuinely distinct readings, none of which repeat.
The ground is warm medium brown agate, confirmed from flat-lit white-background photos — a genuine chocolate-brown with warmth through the body, lightening to a honey tone at both glossy drill-end caps. The cream motif lines are bold and high-contrast throughout. The surface is uniformly high-gloss, and the form is a full fusiform at 57.7mm — wide through the centre, tapering to both ends with a round, substantial cross-section.
The almond-eye form is a variant treatment within the four-eye motif tradition — less common than the standard concentric-ring eye, and one that gives the bead a softer, more organic quality without departing from the symbolic content of the four-eye layout. Four eyes, four faces, each one different.
No cracks and no chips are visible in any photo. I independently confirm both. No bloodspot inclusions are visible at the resolution provided.
The Four Eye Motif
The four eye dzi (四眼天珠) is one of the foundational eye-count forms in the Tibetan dzi tradition. Four eyes are associated with the four cardinal directions and the four immeasurables of Buddhist practice — loving-kindness (metta), compassion (karuna), sympathetic joy (mudita), and equanimity (upekkha). The four-eye bead is understood to offer protection in all directions simultaneously and to support the cultivation of these four boundless qualities in the wearer's practice. It is also associated with the four activities of pacification, enrichment, magnetisation, and subjugation — the complete range of enlightened action in the Vajrayana tradition.
