🌟 Authentic Tibetan Dzi Bead | Unretouched Photos | New Production
The nine eyes on this bead are not the whole story — look at the cream between them.
At 60 millimetres, this bead runs the full length of the hand. Nine eyes sit in an unbroken sequence from drill end to drill end, each one a cream-ringed circle against a pitch-black ground, connected by the wave and bar lines that frame them. That much is the motif. What the motif does not tell you is what lives inside the cream zones: under macro, the white etching is saturated with thousands of fine reddish-brown and brick-red cinnabar pinpoints, distributed so densely and evenly across every cream element that the white lines themselves read differently up close — part mineral, part colour, part something older than the bead's recent production date.
The ground is pitch-black through the central body, confirmed from flat-lit white-background photos, warming to a very dark brown-black at the glossy drill-end tips. The cream etching shows the heavily granular, crystallised surface texture characteristic of this crafting tradition — not the smooth lines of a newer piece, but a textured mineral buildup across the entire motif field. The nine eyes run across it without a break, each one framing a dark centre within a cream ring, with connecting bars and wave elements filling the space between.
The bead is fusiform in form — widest at the centre, tapering to both ends — and 60.0mm in length, making it one of the longer pieces in the new nine eye category. No cracks and no chips are visible in any photo. I independently confirm both.
Cinnabar Bloodspots (硃砂 / Zhusha)
Macro photography documents pervasive cinnabar inclusions throughout the cream-etched zones of this bead. Cinnabar — mercuric sulfide (硃砂, zhusha) — appears as dense reddish-brown to brick-red individual pinpoints distributed across every cream element: the eye rings, the connecting bars, and the wave lines. The distribution pattern is pervasive macro-constellation across cream zones — thousands of fine individual dots of warm red coloration saturating the white etching field consistently from one end to the other. The dark ground zones between the motif lines show scattered surface-visible inclusions as well. This is a bead where the bloodspots and the motif are inseparable — the cream is where they concentrate, and the cream is everywhere.
The Nine Eye Motif
The nine eye dzi (九眼天珠) is one of the most powerful and sought-after forms in the Tibetan dzi tradition. Nine eyes correspond to nine sources of merit and benefit: the accumulation of good fortune, the removal of obstacles, the enhancement of wisdom, longevity, protection from negative forces, and the blessings associated with each of the nine planetary influences recognised in Tibetan astrology. The nine eye bead is also associated with Dzambhala, the deity of wealth and abundance, and is considered among the most auspicious of all dzi forms to wear or keep. The addition of cinnabar bloodspot inclusions — naturally occurring mercuric sulfide within the stone — is regarded in the Tibetan tradition as a mark of heightened protective power.
